Blockbuster giving up



A Blockbuster closing in Chesterfield Virginia: It may say "this location only" but many others in the area have gone down, too, completely unable to deal with Netflix, Redbox and the online world of downloads.

This is a repeat of how Blockbuster started, except in reverse: It was the main chain that spread across America in the 1980s and 90s, obliterating the thousands of "mom and pop" video tape stores that once existed.

The area was once part of the main body of the James River, but became separated from the main channel and is now kept more or less pristine as a reserve in the shadow of the large dominion power plant that dominates the area. Thousands of ducks winter in the area.
