9th street tunnel
A part of DC is underground, from the huge executive branch installation under the area of the White House, to the stuff they've been busily building underneath around the Capitol building.

It used to be outer space was the last frontier, now humans are burrowing underneath at a much faster rate.

Swan out on the wetland near Henricus, off the James River. The area was once part of the main body of the James River, but became separated from the main channel and is now kept more or less pristine as a reserve in the shadow of the large dominion power plant that dominates the area. Thousands of ducks winter in the area.
